New Home SEAI Grants for Solar PV Systems

This grant aims to help you install Solar PV panels to generate renewable electricity for your home. Explore the grant values and application process below.

Grant Values for Solar Electricity

Grants are distributed on a pro-rata basis. For example, a 2.5kWp system would receive €1,950.

Grant Type Value Example
Solar PV Grant €900 per kWp up to 2kWp €1800 for 2kWp solar panels
€300 for each additional kWp up to 4kWp Maximum grant capped at €2400
    €2100 for 3kWp solar panels

Eligibility Criteria

Steps to Apply for the Home SEAI Grant

Homeowners, including private landlords, with homes built and occupied before 2021 are eligible to apply. The eligibility date is determined by the installation date of your electricity meter, differing from other grants requiring homes built before 2011.

Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) Overview

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) supports businesses and other sectors in installing solar PV panels to generate on-site electricity. This technology helps reduce commercial electricity costs, enhance supply security, and improve sustainability. Grants are available for systems up to 1000kWp.

Advantages of Choosing Solar PV

Solar PV modules generate electricity and come with numerous benefits:

    • Lower your electricity bills.

    • Show your commitment to sustainability.

    • Support Ireland’s climate goals.

  • Access government grants up to €162,600.

Grant Amounts for Solar PV Systems

Grant amounts are based on the output of your solar PV system, up to a maximum of 1000kWp. Systems exceeding this size are not eligible for the NDMG grant. The maximum grant available is €162,600*.

*Based on the maximum system size of 1000kWp.

Solar PV System Size Grant Amount
1kWp* €900
2kWp €1,800
3kWp €2,100
4kWp €2,400
5kWp €2,400
6kWp €2,400
7kWp – 20kWp €300/kWp
21kWp – 200kWp €200/kWp
201kWp – 1000kWp (1MWp) €150/kWp

*kilo Watt peak (standard test output of a PV panel).

Example: A typical 30kWp solar PV system usually consists of 75 solar PV panels covering 125m2.

Example Solar PV System Sizes and Corresponding Grant Values

Solar PV System Size Grant Amount
